That's a misunderstanding. Usual rewards users in $USUAL, which is revenue-based. This means that $USUAL is minted when USD0 is locked into USD0++, during 4 years (until maturity), in exchange of cashflow. Again, this means that $USUAL is only minted when revenue enters the protocol. This minting factor is disinflationary, meaning $USUAL's emission lowers as TVL grows, increasing scarcity, Earnings Per Token, and so, the implied value per token. This creates a flywheel, where users lock into USD0++ -> increase TVL/revenue -> increase implied value per token -> if market prices it, resulting APY is higher -> people lock into USD0++ etc. I'm oversimplifying things a bit, but maybe reading the whitepaper could help your understanding

12/09/2024 at 11:50:50 ESTIn general, any stablecoin yield above the fed rate has to be coming from somewhere, and I'm still having a hard time understanding by the rate is so high - if APY are from interest revenue from the t-bills (4-5%), then if someone is getting 64% APY on $1 now, then that same $1 has to not be generating 4-5% the entire life of the T-bill revenue put another way, if someone is getting a lot of APY now, who is getting a very low APY later?

1. Yes, it could theoratically be priced like a bond - with a discount, and getting closer to 1:1 as time goes by 2. Because there's very high incentives on the Curve pool, plus arbitrage opportunities: 2.a. Since the underlying is still 1:1, if USD0++ traded under parity because of the "lock period", players can buy it and just hold it until it "repegs" or until maturity, making a quick risk-free buck, or increasing their APY. 2.b. It's "locked", but it's still fully usable and composable in DeFi, lowering the underlying eventual "depreciation" of a "lock". 2.c. The PAR mechanism ensures that the value never goes too much down. 2.d. Post-TGE, people will be able to claim it at a floor price, creating more arbitrage opportunities. 2.e. APY being high, expected returns outperform the possible small discount that could result in the locking period. etc. It's just game-theory really, and we'll be posting an article about that!

Revenue comes from the whole TVL, as USD0 & USD0++ are both backed by tokenized short-term U.S T-Bills. But in the case of USD0++, since it's a locked version, the protocol can predict future cashflow over that locking period, and mint $USUAL based on that (and the other factors). This ensures that every $USUAL is minted only in exchange for real revenue.

Oh yeah, that's actually to be expected. So, when $USUAL is minted, it's distributed across various "buckets" right. One of them is USD0++ holders and, among others, are the two Curve pools. This means that LPs and holders are separated (they don't dilute each other), and seeks to find a balance between the total supply and the amount in Curve, in order to always have a proportional amount of liquidity on the secondary market, that follows the total supply. For example, if there's not a lot of the TVL that is LP'd on Curve, APY for Curve LPs will be really high, incentivizing people to LP. If there's too much, it'll be less attractive. Thanks to that, you always have a perfect balance of supply & secondary market liquidity.

So technically, USD0++'s supply can't really just "go down", since it's staked for 4-years. You'd need to burn a quantity of $USUAL to redeem it before maturity, which would increase scarcity, the underlying value of each token (Earnings Per Token) and so, the yield.

Hi, USD0++ doesn't yield at the moment, since we're in the pre-launch (pills campaign). Until TGE, you'll earn pills, that will grant you $USUAL tokens at the airdrop. After TGE, USD0++ will yield as you choose : speculative yield (alpha yield) paid in USUAL, or minimum yield, paid at maturity.
